Steamship Days on Bowen Island

What a fabulous day we had.  The weather was perfect, a nice sunny day with a light breeze, we couldn’t have asked for better.

Our day started with a short ferry ride over to Snug Cove on Bowen Island.  As soon as we arrived we headed over to the Snug Cafe where we had our lunch reservations.  With 27 of us in total we kept the restaurant busy for the next couple of hours.  One of the owners, Pierce (I hope I am spelling it correctly) was an absoltue gem!  He was our verbal menu board and made sure that we had plenty of ice water and natcho chips & salsa until our meals arrived.

The food was fantastic and very large in portions – a great choice.  Shortly after lunch we split into walking groups, the shorter walk to the lake and the longer walk that went completely around Killarney Lake.  Thankfully we were in the forest and the shade from the trees kept us relatively cool.

Following our invigorating walks we met at Nancy’s Taco Shop for coffee and yummy ice cream – definitely well deserved by everyone.  Nancy’s is another wonderful place for lunch or a snack – look for it just to the right as you get off the ferry.  I will be going back the next time I head to the island!

Shortly after finishing our ice cream treat we boarded our ferry back to Vancouver and caught the city bus back to downtown.

A great day was had by all!
