Breakaways ‘Treasures of Tuscany’ June 1, 2018 – Pisa

Photos of our Fabulous Adventure

I awoke at 4am and couldn’t get back to sleep so eventually just got up and headed down for breakfast.  Several people have arrived early to Pisa, so we spend several hours catching up and hearing of their adventures so far.  Lynne and I are staying close to the hotel today to greet those arriving today.

Firstly, Lynne, Colin and I did a superstore run for snacks for tomorrow’s bus ride and, of course, to top up the wine supply in our respective rooms.  There, that is done.  Next is to confirm the arrangements for this evening’s ‘Bubbly Bash’ Prosecco & appies party. Done, and check.  Lynne and I position ourselves in the chairs next to the front desk and greeted the new arrivals.  What a fun and festive group we are!

At 5pm precisely the hotel has set up the appies, wine & Prosecco and let the party begin.  It was a fabulous 3 hours of introductions, catching up, and laughter.  What a great little party!

As the celebration winds down, we decide to walk a few blocks behind the hotel (recommended by the hotel staff) to the local Ristorante Da Rino. Thankfully I have a family of techies to find the place, as none of us could read the writing of the fellow from the front desk.

We found it very quickly and settled in at a table for 6. Now the fun begins, the menus are in Italian, the staff of this quirky family run restaurant speak very little English, and we speak even less Italian.  With my Spanish, Rod’s Google Translate App, and a lot of gestures we order our dinner and hope for the best.  We were all pleasantly surprised when we received what we thought we were ordering and everything was delicious.

We giggled our way back to the hotel and made it an relatively early night.  Buona notte!
