Today is the free day for us to do as we please and many have decided it is a good day to explore the town of San Quirico. Others have gone to San Gimignano, I along with 6 others have booked a taxi back to Pienza. Gail, Dave, Rod & Charlene have rented Vespas for the morning donning their Breakaways jackets. They have decided they have gone from Breakaways ‘Hiker Chicks’ to ‘Biker Chicks’!
I wandered Pienza taking photos and waiting for the Piccolo Cafe to open. I have been thinking about the delicious croissant Rod and I shared yesterday, and their beautiful garden where I could journal to my hearts content. Much to my disappointment, they are closed on Thursdays so I had to find an alternate cafe to sit in – their croissants were equally as delicious so I was happy.
I ran into the other ladies a couple of times and oohed and ahhhed over each other’s purchases. What fun. Trish and I did a wander together as Deedee and Pamela wanted to walk back to San Quirico. However just as we were about to catch our bus, they joined us as the trail back to San Q. Was not well marked.
Back in San Q. I joined mi familia at the Bar Centrale for a Prosecco and snacks. We did a wee bit of shopping however didn’t buy anything.
Back at the hotel we gather around 6:00pm in Gail & Dave’s designated Happy Hour room before heading to the Terazza for tomorrow’s hike briefing and then on to dinner.
