Nepal Nirvana – October 16, 2018 Pokhara – Tansen

Photos of our Fabulous Adventure

Had a great sleep and up early to prepare for today’s 4 hour journey to Tansen. By 8:00am we had all eaten, were checked out and ready to roll.

The early morning traffic wasn’t too bad and we drove south of Pokhara and started to climb. Our route took us over several small mountain ranges, hugging the contours of the hills winding like a huge serpentine. The vistas were spectacular and at times a wee bit scary. The road was really good, I think the best one yet, and relatively little traffic. There were pockets of traffic jams and many, many idiot drivers and some very close calls.

At 10:30am we stopped for coffee and tea and then continued our journey. Around 1:30pm we arrived at the Srinagar hotel atop one of the taller hills in Tansen. It is a wonderful traditional Nepali style hotel and the rooms are very comfortable. First plan of action, lunch. Everything is made from scratch and was delicious. Not sure if we have saved room for the Chinese buffet dinner tonight. Oh I am sure we will manage 😄.

Some of the group joined Bikesh and Prem for a look around the town. They had a great time and came back with all sorts of stories. Prem came back with a nice haircut and I hear Bikesh bought clothes, so a successful trip. A few of us stayed back and had naps – bouncing over Nepalese roads makes you sleepy!!

Dinner was at 7:30pm and was good. It seemed to take forever so Bikesh gave the kitchen a little pep talk and said if the soup is ready, then please serve that. The soup came, Bamboo soup and unfortunately none of us really liked it. A little too different for our Canadian palates. We all retired early and I was sound asleep before 10!
