Nepal Nirvana – Oct 14, 2018 Pokhara

Photos of our Fabulous Adventure

Ahhhh the luxury of a later start. Following breakfast we departed the hotel for the Peace Pagoda, a beautiful Stupa high on the hills across the lake from us. Here we should get a great view of the Annapurna, as long as the clouds clear.

Up a steep winding hill and then a 20 minute walk up several hundred stairs and we arrive at the Peace Pagoda. It is as beautiful as I remember, however the clouds are just not willing to clear. We get the odd glimpse of Annapurna South and a couple of others. We patiently sat near the Stupa and just waited, but the view we are waiting for eluded us. Maybe tomorrow will be clear.

Back down the stairs and into Pokhara we stop at Devi’s Falls. Apparently in 1961, a Swiss woman, Mrs. Davis, was swept away while swimming with her husband, just ahead of the falls and died. It took much effort to retrieve her body and from that point onwards was named Davis Falls. A sad story. 😢

From here we stop at the International Mountain Museum which was fascinating! The focus is on mountaineering and specifically in the Himalayas. Initially we thought it would be a quick visit, however we were all so enthralled with the photos and memorabilia we stayed over 1.5 hours. Bikesh tried to hurry us up as he was getting hungry.

Around 2pm we returned to the hotel and had a light lunch, and then hit the pool for a little sun. The sun slowly set and reluctantly we went in.

By 7:00pm Bikesh picked us up and we headed to the Roadhouse for dinner. It was a modern lively place with great food. The waiter was quite the character in the beginning but by the time we were ready to leave he was actually a bit of a pain. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and within minutes Bikesh & Prem picked us to head back to the hotel.
